E101 Quilting Studio
This is an ongoing class and may be joined at any time. All levels, from beginning to advanced are welcome. This is the time to do your own work, get expert advice on a special project and meet with other local quilters. Come join the fun. Class meets Fridays, 9 a.m.1:30 p.m. $28 per year for VAA members. $38 per year for non VAA members. Only $5.00 per term thereafter.
E102 Hardanger Studio
Hardanger embroidery is a delicate form of openwork which originated in the Hardanger region of Norway hundreds of years ago. This is an ongoing class and may be joined at anytime. All levels from beginning to advanced are welcome. Each person works on their own project Class meets Thursdays, 9:30-11:30 a.m. The cost is $28 for VAA members first term;$43 for non-members (includes one year membership) Only $5 per term thereafter.
E103 Ikebana
Come and learn the art of Ikebana. In this ongoing class you will not only learn the art of flower and plant placement, but the philosophy that accompanies this beautiful tradition. Class meets every Thursday 1-3 p.m. $20 per year for VAA members, $30 per year for non VAA members. E104 Multi-Media Painting Studio and Critique Group
Come join this open multi-media studio. In this friendly, supportive atmosphere you will work on your own projects in watercolor, acrylics, colored pencil, graphite, pen and ink or almost any other painting of drawing medium -- with the exception of oils. Each session begins with a voluntary critique. There is no instructor and we do our own clean-up. Open the 2nd & 4th Tuesdays from noon until 3 p.m. First time attending, cost is $20 for VAA members; $35 for non-members. Only $4 per session thereafter. Contact Lisa Zietz at moon@hevanet.com
E420 Painting landscapes in Pastels with Amanda Houston
This workshop is for all levels, beginner through advanced. This indoor class emphasizes techniques and methods of using pastels, and focuses on making great painting from photographic references. Lessons will include daily demonstrations followed by personal assistance at your own easel. Class size limited to 12 people, (minimum of 7 people) Material list and daily agenda will be forwarded to people who enroll.

E430 Beginning Oil Painting with Michael Orwick
13 years - Adult
Students will work with normal or water-soluble oil paints and will learn to paint landscapes and still life by learning to measure colors and values. Some supplies will be provided, but students will need to purchase additional supplies. or pay slightly more to experiment and use my paints. Minimum of six students.

DRAWING
E 410 Drawing Workshop
This class will concentrate on drawing the draped figure from live models. Using each other as models the first focus will be on detail and then on the broad form of distant figures. Bring any dry medium and 9X12 or larger paper. Class will meet Wednesday, March 12, from 9am to noon. $20.00 for VAA members and $35.00 for non-members. Instructor: Bev Walker (503-992-2239)

E 495 Exploring Printmaking
Calling all 4th grade through High School Age students. Come spend 5 weeks learning different techniques in printmaking. The first four weeks class will start off with a demonstration and the remaining time in each class will be used to explore each method learned that day. The last week of class will be a free day to use what you've learned and practice these techniques even further. Many wonderful prints will be made over the five week course. As an introduction class, drawing and painting experience is not needed, just an open mind to create and explore this art form. Assistance will always be available, and creative freedom encouraged. Class will be Fridays, March 7, 14, 21, 28 and April 4th, from 3:30-5:00. 5 weeks $75 for VAA members, $90 for non members. Supplies $25

E480 Pottery Making
All skill levels welcome. High School students are welcome, MUST be at least 16 years old. Learn a variety of techniques for forming decorative and utilitarian objects from clay. Hand building and wheel throwing methods will be explored, and students may use terra cotta clay and low-fire decorative techniques or high-fire stoneware.
Class meets Thursdays, April 3 rd for 8 weeks, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. $97 for VAA members; $112 for non-members (includes one year membership). Clay ($11.50 per 25lb. bag) and tools ($13.50) may be purchased in class, or bring your own tools. Instructor: Ginger Steele at gingersteele@insomniapottery.com.

Saturday morning from March 1st to March 22nd from 10:00am-11:30 am for children ages 6-11. Students will learn how to hand build boxes, baskets, and wall pockets with clay slabs and coils. Projects will be glazed, fired and ready to be picked up March 29th at 10:00am.Parents please provide your child with an old art shirt or apron to protect their clothing. Call Christine Hurayt at (503) 359-5082 with any questions or concerns. Cost is $45.00 per student with a $5.00 discount for siblings. Cost includes all materials, Limit of 12 students per class. I am also in need of one volunteer parent, please call Christine is you are interested in volunteering.
